The Millionaire in 5 Years project arose out of a combination of intrigue and desperation, exploration and fear – and about equal parts of exhilaration and simmering rage.
My name is Pete Russell. The Millionaire in 5 Years concept found its roots in a time when I felt lost, isolated and a little bit hopeless. I had been out of work for a while, and was on the verge of giving up. It was a very dark time.
I was vacationing with family and trying desperately to change my situation. I was reading a book by T Harv Eker, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. Eker makes many distinctions between how millionaires think – and how the rest of us think. There’s one particular distinction that knocked me out:
Rich people are committed to being rich … they are fully committed to creating wealth … they will do whatever it takes to have wealth.
At the end of that section, Eker challenges the reader with a declaration exercise – to commit to being rich. The declaration I made was this:
I commit to being a millionaire within five years.
I wrote it down, and I have been thinking about it ever since. That was in July of 2012. It is now June of 2013 as I launch the Millionaire in 5 Years project.
In the intervening year things have opened up for me that I would never have imagined. As I have learned Internet commerce, learned about so many of the topics that I’ll be sharing here at www.dumpmydayjob.com – my commitment seems very clear and very real to me now.
I have a long way to go. However – I AM COMMITTED to Being a Millionaire in 5 Years.
It’s the commitment that is making the difference …
